Basketball Recap: Maine East Falls Short of Lane Tech in the Playoffs

Maine East and Lane Tech squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Maine East had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 69-42 loss at the hands of the Lane Tech Champions. The Blue Demons just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Matthew Szafoni went supernova for Lane Tech, shooting 50% from the field en route to 19 points and eight rebounds. Those 19 points gave Szafoni a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dalton Scantlebury, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Maine East's defeat dropped their record down to 7-21. As for Lane Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-11 record this season.

Maine East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lane Tech, they have already played their next contest, a 67-57 victory against New Trier on the 28th.
