Recap: West Caldwell Warriors vs. Bandys Trojans

This season hasn't been kind to The West Caldwell Warriors, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They were outmatched by Bandys at home and fell 54-7. While losing is never fun, West Caldwell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Bandys is ranked 150th).

Elan Lipford rushed for -14 yards and a touchdown. Tavion Dula was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Joshton Blankenship rushed for 36 yards.

Elliot Spicer was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Ian Moore was another key contributor, rushing for 46 yards and two touchdowns.

The team's defense also helped out by holding West Caldwell to a paltry 211 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Bandys' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Sam Hill and Scotty Miley who racked up four sacks between them.

West Caldwell's defeat was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-2 Maiden and 11-2 Bunker Hill (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.9% over those games). As for Bandys, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Caldwell will take on East Burke at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. East Burke has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25th. As for Bandys, they will look to defend their home field on October 27th against Bunker Hill at 7:30 p.m. Bunker Hill is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
