Baseball Recap: Aiken Takes a Loss

Aiken was the 6-3 winner over Gray Collegiate Academy when they last played one another last Wednesday, but their luck changed this time around. Aiken fell just short of Gray Collegiate Academy by a score of 3-2 on Friday.

Aiden Morris was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

Morris wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Rarey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Aiken's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Looking ahead, Aiken will take on Brookland-Cayce at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, they will be playing at home against South Aiken at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gray Collegiate Academy is facing South Aiken at the right time seeing as South Aiken is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
