Fort Mill's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Waccamaw.
Alex Carreiro tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cooper Diehl, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Gray Collegiate Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Socastee on Friday. Gray Collegiate Academy blew past Socastee 11-1.
Zeb Taylor looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Gray Collegiate Academy let JP Sweatt and Judson Decell run wild. Sweatt scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Decell scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Decell a new career-high in RBI (three). Zak Perry was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Gray Collegiate Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Socastee only posted an OBP of .333.
The win got Gray Collegiate Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Fort Mill, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
