Soccer Game Preview: Cape Fear vs. Southern Alamance

The Cape Fear Colts will face off against the Southern Alamance Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Cape Fear's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Southern Alamance has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

On Thursday, Cape Fear needed a bit of extra time to put away Jack Britt. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Buccaneers, sneaking past 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hannah McGill was the driving force of Cape Fear's attack as she scored both of Cape Fear's goals, bringing her season total up to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Southern Alamance's offense. They came up short against Western Alamance on Wednesday, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Southern Alamance can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Western Alamance are ranked ninth).

Cape Fear has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those six contests. As for Southern Alamance, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9-2.
