Basketball Recap: Starmount Takes a Loss

Starmount was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. The matchup between them and the Leadership Academy Falcons didn't end well, with the Starmount Rams falling 69-55. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 612th, while the Falcons are ranked 190th).

When it comes to explaining why Starmount lost, don't look at Colton Allen. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Allen has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Sean Gregory, who posted eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leadership Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Foster, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Ryas Ferguson was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points.

Starmount's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Leadership Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Starmount wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-47 defeat against West Stokes on the 4th. As for Leadership Academy, they will face off against Carver at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Leadership Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.3 points per game this season.
