Recap: Oneonta Yellowjackets vs. Waverly Wolverines
The Oneonta Yellowjackets''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Waverly on the road and fell 62-12. Oneonta has struggled against Waverly recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Waverly was led to victory by Jay Pipher and Joey Tomasso. Pipher picked up 131 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Tomasso threw for 308 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Xavier Watson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Oneonta's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. As for Waverly, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Oneonta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Waverly will look to defend their home field on Friday against Susquehanna Valley at 7:00 p.m. Susquehanna Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Waverly is ranked 40th).
