Baseball Recap: Basalt Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four matches, Basalt finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They came up short against the Aspen Skiers, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Longhorns were not able to get on the board.

Basalt's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Aspen, their record is now 2-3.

Coming up, Basalt will venture away from home to challenge Gunnison at 11:00 a.m. on the 12th. The Cowboys have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.56 runs per game on average), something the Longhorns will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Aspen, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-9 loss against Rifle on the 9th.
