Football Game Preview: Brenham Cubs vs. Liberty Hill Panthers + How To Watch

The Brenham Cubs will head out on the road to square off against the Liberty Hill Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Brenham is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Texas City as they made off with a 28-7 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Cubs just coasted through the last quarter.

Brenham's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cartelle Brown, who picked up 106 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most receiving yards Brown has posted since back in September.

Meanwhile, Liberty Hill had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46.1 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They breezed past the Voks to the tune of 62-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Panthers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Voks are ranked 940th).

Brenham better keep an eye on Pierre Dylan Belinga. He was instrumental in Liberty Hill's win, rushing for 133 yards and three scores on only six carries. Dylan Belinga's longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Liberty Hill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kaden Cockburn and Orrin Cole. Cockburn has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Brenham's record is now 10-1. As for Liberty Hill, their record now sits at 9-2.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Brenham has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 173.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Liberty Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 480 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Brenham came out on top in a nail-biter against Liberty Hill when the teams last played back in November of 2024, sneaking past 30-27. Do the Cubs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
