Softball Recap: Bentworth Bearcats vs. Charleroi Cougars        
        
		
            
 Bentworth put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's eighth consecutive shutout  on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Charleroi Cougars  a   4-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Bentworth also won the last time the pair played  on April 8th.
  Sydney Gonglik made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  only one  hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Gonglik has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than eight  strikeouts every time she's  pitched this season. Gonglik was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Zoie McDonald was  excellent,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-3.
 Bentworth pushed their record up to 10-2 with that  victory, which was their fifth straight  at home. As for Charleroi, their loss  ended  an  eight-game streak of away wins  dating back to last season and  brought them to 7-3.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bentworth will  take on Burgettstown at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. Bentworth is facing Burgettstown at the right time seeing as Burgettstown is stuck on  a  four-game losing streak. As for Charleroi, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 5:15  p.m.  on Monday.
