Recap: Belvidere North Blue Thunder vs. Wauconda Bulldogs
The Belvidere North Blue Thunder had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against Wauconda by a score of 28-21 on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but Belvidere North sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Wauconda's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Porten, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jackson Rudolph, who gained 90 total yards and a touchdown.
Belvidere North's victory was their sixth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 9-2. As for Wauconda, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3.
Belvidere North will face off against Lake Zurich at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lake Zurich presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Belvidere North in Illinois (Lake Zurich is ranked 29th, while Belvidere North is ranked 115th). Wauconda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
