Basketball Recap: Oakhaven Comes Up Short

Oakhaven lost against Sheffield back in December of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Oakhaven Hawks fell 38-27 to the Sheffield Knights.

Sheffield found their leader in sophomore Deonna Allen, who posted 19 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Allen. The team also got some help courtesy of Candelaria Lopez, who put up seven points.

Sheffield moved to 1-4 with that win, which also ended their 15-game losing streak.

Oakhaven will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Sheffield, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-11 loss against Memphis School of Excellence Winchester on the 9th.
