Basketball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Wilcox-Hildreth's Fourth in Last Five Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Wilcox-Hildreth rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 49-40 win over the Shelton Bulldogs. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in December of 2024, they had to take a 42-28 loss.

Madison Bunger was her usual excellent self, putting up 17 points along with eight boards and four blocks. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Wilcox-Hildreth's points. Another player making a difference was Cara Bunger, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Wilcox-Hildreth has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points on average over those games. With the defeat, Shelton broke their 25-game winning streak and moved their record to 25-2.

Wilcox-Hildreth wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 39-31 loss against Dorchester on the 7th. Shelton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
