Basketball Preview: Panama Panthers vs. Silver Creek Black Knights
Panama is 4-0 against the Black Knights since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Panama Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Silver Creek Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. Panama is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Thursday, Panama was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to the Pirates. While losing is never fun, Panama can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Pirates are ranked 185th).
Meanwhile, Silver Creek's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in January after their third straight defeat. They suffered a tough 50-26 defeat at the hands of Clymer Central. Silver Creek was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.
Panama's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Silver Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Panama against the Black Knights in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 62-33 victory. With Panama ahead 37-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
