Softball Recap: Shoemaker Comes Up Short

Shoemaker fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Copperas Cove on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldawgs by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Wolves couldn't push the score so high this time.

Kale Clawson spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Diana Samuelu-Pedro was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

Shoemaker's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10-1. As for Copperas Cove, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Shoemaker will face off against rival Harker Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Copperas Cove is set to take on their familiar foe Temple at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
