Basketball Recap: Murtaugh Takes a Loss

Murtaugh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Hagerman Pirates, falling 63-40. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly 23 points.

Martin Gonzalez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hagerman, going 8-for-14 en route to 20 points and seven rebounds. Gonzalez is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Casen Knight, who posted ten points and five assists.

Murtaugh's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Hagerman, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Murtaugh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-37 win against Shoshone on the 19th. Hagerman has also already played their next game (against Oakley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
