Columbia and Ridgeview are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers will square off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Columbia nor Santa Fe made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Raiders. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won eight in a row.
Kyler Keen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Colton Mote was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2025.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ridgeview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Paxon School For Advanced Studies on Thursday, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 18th.
Ridgeview saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Alvarez, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Ridgeview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Ridgeview's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Columbia, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Columbia has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ridgeview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Columbia's way against Ridgeview in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Columbia made off with an 8-2 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
