With a playoff win on the line, La Canada rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Downey Vikings 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on seven straight.

The team relied heavily on Benji Geller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Will Park, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

La Canada pushed their record up to 18-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.25 runs across that stretch. As for Downey, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-15 record this season.

La Canada will challenge Ganesha at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 3.2, the Giants 1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Downey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
