Malvern faced Sheridan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Leopards had just enough and edged out the Yellowjackets 6-5. The victory was nothing new for the Leopards as they're now sitting on five straight.

Kendall Watson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emily Minge, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Alexis Jenkins was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Malvern pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Sheridan, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-5.

Coming up, Malvern will welcome Mills University Studies at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.27 runs per game on average), something the Leopards will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sheridan, they will venture away from home to take on El Dorado at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
