Meanwhile, Catholic Central had already won 13 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points), and they went ahead and made it 14 on Monday. They came out on top against Elmira by a score of 69-59. Given Catholic Central's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Elmira is ranked 115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Catholic Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sei'Mir Roberson, who scored 26 points along with four steals. Xavjon Arroyo was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Catholic Central, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1.
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk ended up a good deal behind Catholic Central in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, losing 60-46. Can Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
