Softball Game Preview: Tohopekaliga Tigers vs. Harmony Longhorns

Tohopekaliga is 0-5 against Harmony since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Tohopekaliga is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against St. Cloud on Wednesday. They lost 10-2 to the Bulldogs.

Maria Santiago spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Tohopekaliga saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anaya Josue, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Harmony was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Winter Park, falling 10-4.

Harmony's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Tohopekaliga, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tohopekaliga hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Harmony struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
