Soccer Game Preview: Riverton/Tri-City vs. Springfield Southeast

The Riverton/Tri-City Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the Springfield Southeast Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverton/Tri-City's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for 12 straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Riverton/Tri-City came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-0 to Athens/PORTA. While losing is never fun, Riverton/Tri-City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 375th, while Athens/PORTA are ranked 131st).

Meanwhile, Springfield Southeast fell victim to Pleasant Plains/New Berlin and their airtight defense on Monday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 10-0. Springfield Southeast have struggled against Pleasant Plains/New Berlin recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Springfield Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Riverton/Tri-City, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12-3.

Riverton/Tri-City suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Springfield Southeast in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
