Preview: Layton Lancers vs. Fremont Silverwolves
Layton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Fremont Silverwolves at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Layton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Tuesday, Layton strolled past Weber with points to spare, taking the game 61-45. That's two games straight that Layton has won by exactly 16 points.
Oakley Homer was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Avery Potter, who scored 12 points.
Fremont suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Syracuse, falling 65-33. While losing is never fun, Fremont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Syracuse is ranked sixth).
Layton's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Fremont, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Layton lost to Fremont on the road by a decisive 59-45 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Layton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
