Basketball Recap: Brecken Francis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chapman over St. Mary's Academy

Chapman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a hard 56-40 fall against the St. Mary's Academy Crusaders. The Irish were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2015.

Chapman lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brecken Francis, who posted ten points and six boards. Those six rebounds gave Francis a new career-high. Bo Rothchild also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Chapman's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for St. Mary's Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Chapman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-30 loss against Santa Fe Trail on the 25th. As for St. Mary's Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-39 win against Royal Valley on the 25th.
