Baseball Recap: Oxnard Takes a Loss

Oxnard managed to slip by Dos Pueblos the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Yellowjackets came up short against the Chargers on Tuesday, falling 9-2. The Yellowjackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Rick Ahumada was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Oxnard's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-2 (and 4-12 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Oxnard saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Berrelleza, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Oxnard's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Dos Pueblos, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Dos Pueblos wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-1 win against Grace on the 23rd. Hopefully Oxnard paid attention to the Chargers' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Chargers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
