Softball Recap: Parke Heritage Comes Up Short

Parke Heritage dropped their record down to 5-9 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 23-0 to the Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Wolves' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Terre Haute North Vigo, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

For Terre Haute North Vigo's part, Kyleigh Walker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Walker was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kyanna Gardner was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Emma Morrison was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parke Heritage will venture away from home to take on Cloverdale at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, they will head out to challenge North Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.11 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
