Volleyball Recap: Athens Wins Going Away Against Danville

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Athens walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Danville Ironmen on Thursday. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Ironmen, too.

Athens walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The final score came out to 25-20, 25-11, 25-17.

Kayla Forbes was the offensive standout of the match as she had 11 digs and four aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last ten games she's played.

Forbes wasn't the only good servers: Athens was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 13 consecutive matchups.

Athens pushed their record up to 9-12-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Danville, their defeat ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.

As of now, neither Athens nor the Ironmen have any future games scheduled.
