Basketball Game Preview: Canyon Cowboys vs. Saugus Centurions

Canyon hasn't had much luck against Saugus recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Canyon Cowboys are taking a road trip to face off against the Saugus Centurions at 6:30 p.m. Canyon will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Canyon will head into Tuesday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 48) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hart, sneaking past 47-45. The 47-point effort marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Saugus posted their biggest win since December 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They blew past Castaic, posting an 86-55 victory. Given the Centurions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Coyotes are ranked 812th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Canyon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.5 points per game. As for Saugus, their record is now 13-7.

Canyon couldn't quite finish off Saugus when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 63-61. Can Canyon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
