Softball Game Preview: North Point Eagles vs. Calvert Cavaliers

North Point is 2-8 against Calvert since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Eagles will take on the Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. North Point has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for North Point after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Northern, falling 15-2. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

North Point saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Blaney, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Leonardtown hit Calvert with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cavaliers took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. The Cavaliers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

North Point's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Calvert, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

North Point might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Calvert when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
