Lake Central is 8-2 against Crown Point since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Indians will take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lake Central 2.9, Crown Point 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Lake Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Hammond Morton a 20-0 shutout. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.
Ethan Champman looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Parker Robinson was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Victor Villegas was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Lake Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hammond Morton only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Crown Point came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since May 7th.
The result came thanks to Logan Cotton's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Sean Dunlap was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Lake Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Crown Point, their record is now 26-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lake Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Crown Point struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lake Central came up short against Crown Point when the teams last played on May 14th, falling 3-0. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
