Basketball Game Preview: River Ridge Hawks vs. Peninsula Seahawks

The River Ridge Hawks will take on the Peninsula Seahawks in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. River Ridge has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, River Ridge turned things around against Lakes on Monday. They came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 77-70.

It was another big night for Dominique Harper, who went 8 for 10 on his way to 19 points in addition to six boards and five blocks. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three). Ryzen Nunez was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds.

River Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Peninsula hadn't done well against Capital recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Peninsula walked away with a 48-41 win over Capital. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Seahawks.

Peninsula pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for River Ridge, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-4.

River Ridge beat Peninsula 60-53 in their previous meeting back in January. Does River Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Peninsula turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
