Baseball Recap: Irvine Comes Up Short

Irvine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Costa Mesa Mustangs.

Irvine saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drake Brito, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Brito a new career-high in hits. Nico Macalino also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Irvine's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Costa Mesa, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Coming up, Irvine will challenge Beckman at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Costa Mesa, they will square off against Segerstrom at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
