Football Recap: Twiggs County Comes Up Short

Twiggs County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They were beaten by the Johnson County Trojans 42-0. While losing is never fun, the Cobras can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 456th, while the Trojans are ranked 203rd).

As for Johnson County, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.9 points on average over those games.

Johnson County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tayshawn Norris led the charge by rushing for 152 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries. Norris' longest rush was for an impressive 53 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another back making a difference was Jeremiah Scott, who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns.

Twiggs County has already played their next matchup, a 43-14 defeat against Glascock County on the 10th. As for Johnson County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 40-7 victory against Wilkinson County on the 10th.
