Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Vikings vs. Portland Raiders

Lakewood is 1-9 against Portland since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lakewood Vikings will challenge the Portland Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Lakewood strolled past Hastings with points to spare, taking the game 42-26. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Meanwhile, Portland got the win against Covenant Christian on Tuesday by a conclusive 46-24. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 22 points or more this season.

Portland is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Lakewood, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Lakewood was taken down by Portland 58-14 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Lakewood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
