Basketball Game Preview: Mauldin Mavericks vs. Greenwood Eagles

The Mauldin Mavericks will head out on the road to take on the Greenwood Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Mauldin is headed into Thursday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-52 heartbreaker at the hands of Woodmont. While the Mavericks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 17-10 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Greenwood came up short against J.L. Mann on Tuesday and fell 67-59.

Greenwood dropped their record down to 14-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Mauldin, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.

Mauldin beat Greenwood 53-45 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mauldin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
