Baseball Game Preview: Charlotte Trojans vs. Sabinal Yellowjackets

Charlotte is 0-10 against Sabinal since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. Sabinal took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Charlotte, who comes in off a win.

Charlotte is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against La Pryor on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Josh Gaitan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Charlotte is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 2-9 otherwise. Gaitan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Landon Gonzales was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was William Barahona, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Sabinal and Falls City had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Yellowjackets fell 13-9 to the Beavers on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Beavers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-10. As for Sabinal, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
