Basketball Recap: Eaglecrest Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Eaglecrest waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 62-54 victory over the Broomfield Eagles.

Eaglecrest got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Garrett Barger out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, Barger is now averaging an impressive 8.5 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Kalimba, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Eaglecrest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Loss or not, Broomfield got some senior leadership from Andrew Effland and Joey Cook. Effland went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points, while Cook put up 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Zufall, who posted three points and six boards.

Eaglecrest's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Broomfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Eaglecrest will take on Hialeah Educational Academy in a tournament on Wednesday. Eaglecrest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season. As for Broomfield, they will be taking part in a tournament against Shawnee Mission South at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
