Sumner was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged the Durant Cougars out 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Stingrays.

Jhovany Rios-Cruz was the driving force of Sumner's attack as he scored both of Sumner's goals, bringing his season total up to three goals.

Sumner's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Durant, they dropped their record down to 6-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sumner will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Tampa Bay Tech at 8:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Durant will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Strawberry Crest at 8:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
