Football Recap: Cuthbertson Cavaliers vs. Parkwood Wolf Pack
Cuthbertson took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Parkwood Wolf Pack 42-0 at home. The win was some much needed relief for the Cavaliers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Mason Iovino went supernova for Cuthbertson, rushing for 186 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also picking up 34 receiving yards. Iovino really tore up the turf during one magnificent 87-yard run. Davian Hall was another key player, throwing for 212 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes.
Cuthbertson wouldn't let Parkwood keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Cuthbertson can thank Cole Webster and Jack Fink for forcing both of them. Webster also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, forcing a fumble, and making seven total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cuthbertson was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 533 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkwood only gained 73.
Cuthbertson will venture away from home to face off against Central Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cuthbertson is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Parkwood, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on East Mecklenburg at 7:00 p.m. on September 6th.
