Softball Game Preview: Chaska Hawks vs. Jefferson Jaguars

The Chaska Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Jefferson Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Chaska will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Orono on Thursday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Spartans. The Hawks have beaten the Spartans the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Spartans has come to flipping the script.

Noelle Stein tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.

At the plate, Ashlyn Larson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Ellie Scott was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Chaska was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Jefferson challenged Waconia on Thursday. The Jaguars blew past the Wildcats 9-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

The win got Chaska back to even at 1-1. As for Jefferson, their record now sits at 2-0.

Chaska couldn't quite get it done against Jefferson when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
