Football Game Preview: Stockbridge Tigers vs. Blessed Trinity Titans

After each having a week off, the Stockbridge Tigers and the Blessed Trinity Titans will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on the 14th. One thing working in Stockbridge's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.

Stockbridge's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-0 victory over Woodland. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Joshua Scott had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 72 yards and two TDs on only five carries, while also throwing for 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Blessed Trinity didn't have quite enough to beat Cambridge on Friday and fell 31-28. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Titans, who until this matchup were averaging 13.8 points allowed.

Stockbridge will have to contain Ahmontae Pitts as he made an impact in Blessed Trinity's last game. He rushed for 227 yards and three scores, and also caught one TD. Pitts is becoming a predictor of Blessed Trinity's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 5-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

Stockbridge's record now sits at 8-2. As for Blessed Trinity, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Stockbridge has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 161.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Blessed Trinity struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 172.8 rushing yards.
