Mariner has gone a perfect 8-0 against LaBelle recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mariner Tritons will head out on the road to face off against the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Mariner took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Estero, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Mariner never let Estero get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tritons.
Not much got past Kelan Jamison, who gave up just six hits to keep Estero off the board. What's more, Jamison gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Mariner's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Donald (DJ) Dwire, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, LaBelle waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Raiders.
Kaleb Mclymont looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, LaBelle let Lonnie Campos and Beau Collier run wild. Campos scored a run while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances, while Collier went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave Collier a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Williams, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple.
Mariner's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for LaBelle, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Everything went Mariner's way against LaBelle in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Mariner made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mariner since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
