Baseball Game Preview: Mansfield Tigers vs. Elkins Elks

The Mansfield Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Elkins Elks at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Mansfield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Elkins' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mansfield will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Greenland, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers walked away with a 9-4 win over the Pirates on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Elkins entered their tilt with Charleston on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Tigers. Four seems to be a good number for the Elks as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Mansfield's record is now 17-5. As for Elkins, their record now sits at 15-8.

Mansfield came up short against Elkins in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, falling 10-5. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
