Louis E. Dieruff extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-13. They came up short against the Whitehall Zephyrs, falling 16-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Huskies haven't been shut out since back in March.
Louis E. Dieruff saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheyder Colon, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Whitehall, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
On Whitehall's side, Dylan Grohotolsky made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Grohotolsky posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Nik Christman got the start for Whitehall and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Christman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Whitehall let Jules Alatzas and Tyler Sanders run wild. Alatzas got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Sanders went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Sanders has posted since back in March. Donato Brigidi was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Louis E. Dieruff has already played their next contest, a 24-0 loss against Allentown Central Catholic on the 24th. As for Whitehall, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-5 victory against Parkland on the 24th.
