Recap: Fairland Dragons vs. Boyd County Lions
The Fairland Dragons waltzed into their match on Saturday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They took down Boyd County 75-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Fairland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bree Allen led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Allen hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Bailey Russell, who scored 22 points.
Fairland pushed their record up to 20-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for Boyd County, their loss dropped their record down to 19-8.
Fairland will head out on the road to take on Notre Dame at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Fairland's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests. As for Boyd County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Morgan County at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Boyd County is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Kentucky (they are ranked 11th, while Morgan County is ranked 128th).
