Basketball Recap: Buena Piles Up the Points Against Amphitheater

Buena won the last time they faced Amphitheater and things went their way on Friday too. The Buena Colts blew past the Amphitheater Panthers 80-40. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Panthers are ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Buena got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamin Booker out in front who went 10 of 14 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Pacheco, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten assists.

Buena has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Amphitheater, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buena will head out to square off against Flowing Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Flowing Wells: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Buena has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. As for Amphitheater, they will venture away from home to take on Sahuarita at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sahuarita is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.
