Ian Stiffler was the best pitcher in Laurel Highlands 2 this week. He picked up one win and 21 strikeouts.
With a big week, the Eagles jumped into the top 25 in the state rankings. Somerset moved up from No. 35 in the state all the way to No. 22 thanks to a 1-1 record over the past week. Led by manager Steve Costea, the Eagles are ranked No. 1,043 in the nation with an overall record of 18-5.
Somerset's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only nine hits and four walks, both of which led the league.
The week's strikeout crown belonged to Stiffler, who turned in 21 Ks for the Eagles. He's first in the league with 67 total strikeouts.
Drew Hemminger's .750 batting average (3-for-4) for Somerset was the best in the league this week. He's batting .450 on the year, which puts him at fourth in the league. Hemminger has totaled 27 hits this season.
