Stratford took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Cy-Fair, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Bobcats on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since February 28th.

Gwyn Katterhenry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Stratford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allison Hibbetts, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Stratford is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Cy-Fair, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 16-8 record.

Stratford and Cy-Fair should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 210th) will meet Cypress Falls (ranked 831st) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Cy-Fair will face off against Cypress Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (144 vs. 419).
