Baseball Recap: Brooke Comes Up Short

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Brooke and Wheeling Park had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bruins fell 10-5 to the Patriots on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.

Brooke saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gino Provenzano, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Brooke's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Wheeling Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Brooke will square off against Wheeling Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wheeling Park, they will head out on the road to take on Fairmont Senior at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Polar Bears have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
