Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Pioneers vs. Rustburg Red Devils

Heritage hasn't had much luck against Rustburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Heritage Pioneers will welcome the Rustburg Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, Heritage was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-37 to Glass. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 82nd).

Meanwhile, Rustburg lost 56-34 to Liberty Christian on Tuesday.

Heritage will have to keep a close watch on Haven Grinstead and Samiyah Jackson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Rustburg's prior game. Grinstead posted 14 points and six rebounds, while Jackson put up eight points and five boards.

Rustburg now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
